Devotional

Isaiah 41:10
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”

I have been loving how many of you have connected with our recent journal prompts! Today, I’m inviting you to join me in a personal reflection on Isaiah 41:10. As we move through this devotional challenge together, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are there specific scriptures or themes you’d like us to explore in our future prompts? If so let me know in the comments below!

Reflection Question 1:

“Do not fear, for I am with you…” When we are in a state of high anxiety our will tell us we are trapped, isolated, and alone. Isaiah 41:10 states the direct opposite of what our brain tries to convenience us when we are anxious. Isaiah 41:10 shows us despite our fear God is with us. God’s presence doesn’t always stop the storm immediately, but it shows us we are never alone.

  • Journal Prompt: Think of a time this week when you felt “lonely” in your stress. If you truly believed God was sitting in the room with you during that moment, how would you have responded differently?

Reflection Question 2:

“…do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” To be “dismayed” means to look around in a state of confusion or alarm. When we focus on the “what ifs” of the future, we feel insecure as if we are standing on unsolid ground. This verse reminds us of the truth, you are a child of God. Grounding yourself in His identity helps stabilize yours.

  • Journal Prompt: List three “What Ifs” that are currently causing you to feel insecure. Next to each, write a “But God” statement

Reflection Question 3:

“I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Your journey with your mental health can be exhausting at times. But despite how life might bring us down at times we can find peace in knowing God will always be there to pick us back up, even in the darkest and heaviest of times.

  • Journal Prompt: Where are you trying to be strong enough on your own? Write a short prayer or note to God, and hand over the weight of that specific burden today.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the promise that we are never alone. When our minds feel overwhelmed and the ‘what ifs’ of life feel loud, help us to lean into Your presence. We hand over our burdens to You today, trusting that Your hand is holding us up even when we feel weak. Give us Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Amen.

  1. I’ve “turned things over to God” and wondered what that meant. I still have to do the thing. Lately, I’ve replaced Mine or His with Ours, “Take My yoke,” from Matthew 11. When I invite Him in, most of the time He pulls with me.
