Devotional

Galatians 3:28
“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Mental Health Insight – After the creation and rise of social media, professionals also saw a significant rise in mental health distress. Why? Social comparison is the thief of joy. We compare our social status, appearance, and achievements to only feel behind, no matter how hard we try. However, when we start to acknowledge that our worth is not tied to labels we transition into a space full of peace and acceptance towards ourselves and lives.

Faith Connection – At the time this verse was written there was significant division between individuals. Paul is acknowledging in Galatians 3:28 that these differences between each and every one of us means nothing in the eyes of God. But rather He views us as all His children giving access to Him freely for all to receive.

Reflection Questions: What labels have I been using to define myself lately?

Prayer Dear God, Thank You for breaking down the walls I build around myself. Forgive me for the times I’ve used labels to keep others out or to keep myself down. Remind me today that in Your eyes, I am not my diagnosis, my status, or my struggles. I am simply Yours, unified with Your family. Let that belonging give me the courage to be my authentic self. Amen

Book Recommendations: I have received a few inquiries from individuals asking to get more information surrounding the devotional topics! If you are interested in learning more about today’s topic I have a great book recommendation below.

The Quest for More  Paul David Tripp

Description: Paul David Tripp explores how our hearts often seek worth through labels like career, appearance, or social standing—the very things social media amplifies. He explains that “social comparison” is actually a search for identity in things that were never meant to sustain us. This book helps readers realize that when we define ourselves by our achievements or how we measure up to others, we stay in a state of chronic mental distress. By shifting the focus from “how do I compare to you?” to “who am I in Christ?”, we find a shared identity that levels the playing field. It is a practical guide to finding peace by letting go of the exhausting need to be “more” and embracing the oneness and equality promised in Galatians.
