Devotional
Proverbs 17:17
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity”
In today’s devotional we are going to practice the SOAP Method in studying scripture. Below I have included 3 reflection questions and a step by step guide on utilizing the soap method. Want to practice today’s application? Share a part of the soap method response in the comments below!
The SOAP Method Guide
The SOAP method is a structured way to engage with the text and apply it to your mental and spiritual well-being.
- S – Scripture: Write out the verse in your favorite translation.
- O – Observation: What stands out? Note the phrase “at all times.”
- A – Application: How does this apply to your life today? (Use the reflection questions below).
- P – Prayer: Write a brief prayer asking for help to receive and give this kind of love.
Reflection Questions:
Who is the person in my life who has stayed by my side during a “low” season? How did their presence change my perspective on that struggle?
In what ways can I show “all times” love to a friend who is currently walking through a difficult or quiet season?
How can I practice being a better “friend” to myself when I make a mistake or feel overwhelmed?
